Tips & Advice
At Countrywideskips.co.uk, we pride ourselves on offering the highest standards of customer support. From secure online ordering through to guaranteed delivery and collection, we do our utmost to make skip hire hassle-free! And you can do your bit too! By following these few simple guidelines you can help us to deliver an even better skip hire service!
Some Tips
(1) Size matters
Overloading skips is illegal, so unless you want to be stuck with a load of excess waste, or even worse, the bill for another skip to take your uncollected rubbish away...
a) be realistic about how much waste you need to dispose of
b) use our size guide, to check which skip best suits your requirements
c) if unsure, call our friendly team for advice by ringing the number at the top of our website
(2) Get a permit, if you need it!
It is illegal to place a skip on the public highway without a permit from the local council, correct signage and warning lights. If you do not have access to private land, please inform Countrywideskips.co.uk when you order. We will be happy to make the necessary arrangements for you at no extra cost!
(3) Don't overload your skip!
Overloading is not only illegal, it is highly dangerous. It presents a hazard to passing motorists and pedestrians; and it prevents us from being able to pick up and transport your skip safely. For these reasons, waste MUST NOT exceed the height of the skip walls as shown in the diagram below
(4) Watch what you're skipping!
Countrywide skips are for general and inert waste ONLY.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT: food waste, computer monitors, televisions, fridges or freezers, full paint cans, aerosols, solvents, liquids, oil, batteries, tyres, gas canisters, plasterboard (above 10% per load), clinical/medical waste or hazardous/toxic materials (including
asbestos) in any form.
(5) Access all areas
On private land: Large Goods Vehicles (LGV's) like our skip lorries require plenty of room (approximately 10 feet in width) in order to enter/exit your property safely.
On the highway: please ensure there are no obstructions, including other parked vehicles, which may prevent the skip from being delivered/collected. IMPORTANT: It is the customer's responsibility to provide adequate access.
(6) Don't move your skip!
Once your skip has been placed in a position agreed by you with our driver it MUST NOT be moved! To avoid any problems post delivery, please ensure the skip will not restrict access to property, cause inconvenience or obstruction to neighbours or other members of the public.
(7) Don't start a fire in a skip!
Under no circumstances should you set light to waste in a skip. WARNING: Customers may be held responsible for any damage caused to a skip by burning rubbish.
